At Beast of the East, we are commited to responsible motorhoming respecting local communities, nature and the environment. There are a few important considerations during your travels below to make your trip as enjoyable as possible, but also minimise impact on others and the environment.
Our campervans should be treated as an extension to your home, so waste and rubbish should be disposed of appropriately and recycled where possible. Most campsites will provide its users with recycling facilities. Do not bury or burn any waste.
Both vans are provided with 100L freshwater tanks. You will be suprised by how much water you use for washing hands, showering and flushing toilets. Monitor water levels during your trip to avoid running out. When filling up, make sure your water supply is safe to drink. Campsites should have a place signposted where you can fill up
Grey water refers to water that goes down your sink or shower. This collects in the 50L onboard waste water tank. These tanks should be emptied regularly to reduce risk of odor and overfilling.
Because grey water can contain chemicals such as soap, shower gel, it is advised that the grey water tank is emptied at campsite disposal areas so it can be treated properly.
Black water refers to waste water from toilets. This can contain harmful bacteria and pathogens, so it is important it is disposed of correctly. Chemical toilet disposal points or black water waste emptying points at campsites or service points called a black waste disposal point. Both the vans feature cassette toilets, so if required these can be removed and disposed of within a conventional toilet. Check whether the disposal point is connected to a septic tank, chemicals from toilets can kill the bacteria. Do not empty into streams or water courses.
Having the convience of an onboard toilet is great, however, they can quickly fill up. We recommend that the onboard toilet is used sparingly for solids to avoid regular emptying. Only use the provided toilet paper, it is thinner than normal paper so it is broken down by the chemicals. Spare chemicals are provided along with gloves and safety glasses in the event the toilet needs to be emptied. Please ensure the toilet is emptied prior to return.
Clothes can be hand washed in the van if required, however, across the UK there are a number of self service laundrettes that can be used if required.
